Richard's Garden

Bought seed potatoes from HDRA "Potato Day". Unfortunately the varieties that I wanted (particularly Charlotte) were sold out. This is the first time I will grow International Kidney and Pink Fir Apple.

The potatoes are now chitting.
Premiere (First Early)
Year: 1979. Resistance to blight, potato cyst nematode, good resistance to spraing virus (tobacco rattle virus). High yield.
International Kidney (Early Maincrop)
Year: 1879. This is the variety sold as 'Jersey Royal'. Waxy. Susceptible to potato cyst nematode.
Majestic (Maincrop)
Year: 1911. Most widely grown commercial variety in England until the 1960s. Susceptible to potato cyst nematode. Average resistance to spraing virus (tobacco rattle virus), common scab and blight. Good yield.
Pink Fir Apple (Late Maincrop)
Year 1850. Waxy. Susceptible to potato cyst nematode.
